It's sad to see the potential of a movie not being used to the fullest. so is in my opinion "up in the air".the story being interesting and legitimate in its principle sometimes lacks the necessary motivation of the characters' actions which makes the audience be only confronted with mere facts, one step after the other. and the end doesn't make you feel any better. oscar-worthy? I don't think so.
there's only one moment which generates empathy with the character - you'll have to find out yourself by watching the movie, not necessarily in the cinema. watching it on dvd might do.
I am looking forward to the oscars though. the most exciting thing about it is to find out if the academy judges as you judge the movies yourself. the challenge to judge them objectively is rarely our strength because our tastes weigh very much in our choices. is the jury able to decide objectively?
we'll see tomorrow night!
