to buy or not to buy

recently I read in a magazine, anyone who intends to save money, i.e. to spend less, should try not to take the items into their hands. apparently touching things and grabbing them makes the customer buy them more likely than just looking at them.

maybe this works also on other things?

perhaps a person who wants to lose weight shouldn't touch, grab or even smell food that makes this person gain weight. in my case i wouldn't be even allowed to look at food - the mere look at fresh vegetables or meat makes me want to eat everything the supermarket has in store!

what about men who in the first place don't interest you, but become attractive when they hit on you?

what about sex? when you didn't feel the need of sex during a long time of abstinence, but then after having it, the "monster" in you has been awakened and makes you want more.

my theory is that unconscious needs are compensated when you do those seemingly uncontrolled things. first not being aware of this need, another need gets activated when getting in touch with the unconsciously desired things.

anyway, in order to calm your guilty conscience, you either correct it by cutting short the following days. easy, right?

or you just think the following - sometimes, what you want is actually what you really need.

yesterday my day ended with 210 EUR less on my bank account... guess what I did. and what I'm gonna do the next few weeks...

...while convincing myself that all I bought, I do really need!
